This West Texas church has a great location east of town at the interchange of several state and federal highways. The Pastor and staff were young and progressive, representative of the church demographic, and they were all in need of a Master Plan and phase one Worship Center to serve the dynamic needs of this young church.
The Master Plan showcased the Worship Center at this high-profile site, and the design speaks “West Texas Church.” Two massive, angled walls form the defining exterior structure, rising from earth toward heaven.
Actually made from local soils and aggregates, the walls are Rammed Earth, chosen for its enduring strength and quiet dignity. The walls rise in layered bands of earth tones—ochres, umbers, verdes, clay reds, purples—capturing the striated beauty of the desert.
The broader campus design connects the Worship Center with a Children’s Building, Administration Building, future growth, and older buildings. These are linked along a central main street commons that forms the heart of the campus. A playful pop-jet water feature cools the children’s outdoor area, while an athletic field and field house complete the master plan.
Ultimately, the goal was to provide now and in the future for this multi-faceted ministry, all in a design that expresses the personality and purpose of this great church body, and its great home in West Texas. Every element serves the vision.
