As the largest minority church in the state, this Pastor had a commitment and leadership style that was infectious. Wonderful people, and the project was the same. They wanted a design style that was indicative of Albuquerque, a great city. They wanted a building that was reminiscent of New Mexico.
The low-pitched roof, materials, and form were grounded in the images of New Mexican structures. The masonry scale is of hand-cut limestone or even adobe. The textured stucco gables, etc., contrast with the standing seam metal roof, and complete a fairly simple materials list, which is consistent with this style. The Cupola is Spanish Revival, also indicative of New Mexico.
The Building Program included the Sanctuary with seating for 662, Chancel, Choir Loft, Nursery, AVL, multi-purpose Fellowship Hall with 10 Classrooms, Kitchen, Administration, and a variety of typical supporting spaces. The total building area was 14,000 sf. The Master Plan provided for a future Family Life Center and associated parking and infrastructure.
