Relocating from an old, inner city building, this progressive congregation made wise and insightful decisions concerning their new location and the purchase of property in the fastest growing area of Austin. The site was part of a retail shopping area, and the church was able to negotiate the sharing of things like parking, utilities, and storm drainage infrastructure.
In this high-profile location, the church wanted a design that not only spoke about their spiritual outreach but also reflected their progressive character and Austin heritage. The Austin design style is a blend of local materials, regional influences, and a touch of modern design, creating a unique and distinctive architectural aesthetic. We used Texas limestone as the defining building material, with red cedar for both the interior and exterior, i.e., trusses, beams, ceilings, and trim. The metal roof was an architectural standing seam with a Galvalume finish and color.
The Building Program included the Sanctuary seating 275, Choir Gallery to one side, AVL control, Kitchen, multi-purpose Fellowship Hall, Dining, Classrooms, Nursery, Administration, Choir Rehearsal, and support spaces. The building area was 12,500 sf. The Master Plan includes options for future expansion, and also the addition of a future Family Life/Education building.
