Abundant Life was a fun and rewarding project—one that turned a practical challenge into a creative opportunity. Rather than building a new church, the leadership chose to invest in a full school facility first. The school would operate as a weekday academic center, while also serving as the church’s worship and gathering space on evenings and weekends. Since the schedules didn’t conflict, the dual-use strategy worked beautifully.

The building design and image needed to represent both functions of church and school, with traditional styles as the preference of the Pastor and leadership. It included 2 brick colors with a plinth and horizontal banding, a standing seam metal roof, and two different cupola forms – balancing institutional presence with classic charm.

The Building Program included a Gymnasium with a regulation basketball court in the center and a large parallel space on each side, separated by folding panel partitions. These 3 spaces comprised the total Gym area, which was over twice the area of one basketball court. This gave the church tremendous flexibility for a variety of worship, religious, assembly, and sports functions. The rest of the Building Program included a professional Food Service Kitchen and operation, large Locker Rooms with high-end equipment, 22 Classrooms, 5 church and school offices, Library, and additional support spaces. The total building area was 38,442 sf.

This project is a great example of how smart planning and flexible design can multiply ministry impact—serving educational needs while also nurturing faith and fellowship.
