This Christian school near Houston has an excellent academic reputation, PreK-12 grades, and an enrollment of almost 700. The school was the recipient of a 31-acre land transaction from the neighboring church, and with graduating classes marching forward, the school needed the design and construction completed as soon as possible.
The design requests included approximately 120,000 sf with 4 wings and a quad in the middle. As for design style, Hogwarts was mentioned as a reference, but more specifically, English Tudor style. The building program included Classrooms, Offices, a Band/Orchestra department, Dance, Gymnasium and Locker Rooms, Auditorium and Stage, Clinic, Kitchen and Dining, etc. There was a strong emphasis on computer labs and the built technology to accommodate the evolution of these classes and curriculum.
With hints of a British Schoolhouse, the design more accurately reflected the identity of this fine institution and its extraordinary student body. This school knows its purpose in the lives of these young people, and that was represented in the design.
