Cedar Bayou Baptist was our client, and we also had a relationship with Cedar Bayou Methodist, so we were thankful for our blessings and Cedar Bayou. Cedar Bayou Baptist Church had strong leadership and construction experience from within the membership, so team effort and communication were great.

The goal was to demolish and replace the existing Sanctuary, with added amenities. The design style was to be “drop dead gorgeous.”  We also used requested traditional forms, while respecting the local context and residential tenor. The building materials were a standing seam metal roof, textured EIFS, and banded brick coursework of complementary colors. Attractive covered walkways of stucco segmented arches and brick columns connected all the existing buildings. Two Covered Drive-Thru stations facilitated site circulation.

The Building Program included the Sanctuary with seating for 947, Choir Loft, Baptistry, Choir Rehearsal, a very nice Administration area, Classrooms, Greeters, and Visitor’s Center. The building area was 18,000 sf with parking for 317.

This project is a great example of tradition and beauty working hand in hand—with a church family that knew what they wanted and helped make it happen.
