When in Miami, high-profile national leaders and celebrities often visit this church. As one of the largest churches in South Florida, the evolution of New Birth has mirrored the impressive career of its distinguished Pastor. It is a budding mega-church, and we were thrilled for the opportunity to be part of this project.

At a prominent intersection in North Miami is the 13-acre church campus. The phase 1 project was composed of 3 buildings: Worship Center, Education, and Family Life. The distinctive buildings help to delineate and provide for the multitude of ministries, schools, and social functions.

The Building Program followed the hierarchy of the Worship Center in the center of the building configuration. The Sanctuary included a “Sweep-down Balcony” with cascading seating on each side of the ground floor congregation. The Chancel, Orchestra Pit, Baptistry, Choir Rehearsal, Nurse, Communion, and a variety of Offices and Classrooms completed the list of basic spaces. Worship Center seating was almost 1,700, including over 600 in the Balcony. The Education and Family Life Buildings flank each side of the Worship Center, connected with enclosed walkways.

The Master Plan located the Phase 1 buildings at the property corner on the prominent street intersection. For growing Education and Administration needs, the future Twin Towers were located in the center of the Plan as the campus beacon. The full School, pre-K through 12 grades, was also planned in 3 connected buildings, to provide for the students in its own phasing sequence. Finally, in conjunction with the School are the Athletic Fields, plus Tennis Courts, a Field House, and Concessions.

Ultimately, the Master Plan used virtually every square foot of the 13-acre campus. This Plan, like our Phase 1 project, included the right amount of flexibility and future expansion to provide for every component and expression of this dynamic church.
